Parking Safety Reminders

Please remember to only park on one side of the street when parking in the neighborhood around the school. Also, try not to park too close to the corners (especially next to Ashford Dunwoody). It cuts down on visibility and makes it dangerous for walkers. Please slow down, and let’s all work together to keep our kids safe!

Principal’s Message

Greetings Mustang families,
The 2016-2017 school year has gotten off to a great start! I am truly excited about returning to Montgomery as principal for a 2 nd year. I am always amazed at how much the students change over the summer. Many of them are almost as tall as I am!

Our theme this school year is “You are an essential piece.” This is going to be an exciting year for Montgomery ES as we move closer to obtaining our AdvancED STEM Certification. Each member of our school community is an essential piece of Montgomery’s success and plays an important role.

I am excited to welcome and introduce the following new staff members: Anna Scott Ferree – 3 rd grade teacher, Sacha St. Hill Des-Anges – 3 rd grade teacher, Erina Jeon –5 th grade teacher, and Wendell Avery – P.E. teacher. We welcome them to our Montgomery staff.

Thanks to our wonderful Montgomery families, business partners, and Mustang Fund, the students returned to a new playground! The PTA contributed to the new playground by providing a new basketball court for the students. This could not have happened without the support of our school community.

Below are just a few gentle reminders:
Carpool begins at 7:15 a.m. Dropping students off before 7:15 a.m. delays carpool since the buses are still unloading between 7:00a.m. – 7:15 a.m. Beginning carpool at 7:15 a.m. allows parents to move quickly through the line.
Students need to be in the building by 7:40 a.m. Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. will need to have a parent sign them in.
Students cannot be checked out from school after 1:45 p.m.
Changes to transportation should not be made after 10:00 a.m. With over 700 students, it is difficult when transportation changes are made late in the day. The safety of our students is our number one priority so it is critical that we are aware of the manner in which students are getting home in a timely manner.

We are fortunate to have caring and involved families at Montgomery. As a school community, we are committed to helping all children succeed and we want to work with parents to achieve this goal. Although we welcome parents and guests in the building, beginning Monday, August 15th , parents will no longer be able to walk students to class. As we enter the 2 nd week of school, it is important for students to become familiar with morning routines and procedures in order to have a smooth start to their day.

I will continue to send information through Remind 101. It is very important to sign up to receive real-time information from the school. If you have not joined, please click here. You can also follow me at Twitter @Carolina_Girl96.

Thank you for your continued support of Montgomery Elementary School!!!

With Mustang pride,

Lori M. Bolds

Attention Library Volunteers!

If you are planning to volunteer in the Montgomery Media Center this year, please attend one of our volunteer orientation sessions. If you have never volunteered before, but think you’d like to, come and learn how the library works. If you have volunteered in the past but never knew exactly how to re-shelve books, come learn more! All volunteers are encouraged to attend an orientation – with so many students and volunteers, it’s important to keep the library organized and running smoothly! (If you have volunteered in the past you do not need to attend.)

Several more orientation dates will be offered in September. Join me in the library at one of these times:
Tuesday, August 23, 10:00 – 10:45 am
Thursday, August 25, 10:00 – 10:45 pm
Please contact Nancy Halloran with any questions.
